Destination - Travel Guide

If Islamabad reflects the face of modern Pakistan, Rawalpindi is the medieval traditional city steeped in culture and history. With visible imprints of the British Raj, Rawalpindi is known for its colonial-style buildings, rich cultural heritage and colorful bustling bazaars. This city shares the glory with the Pakistan’s capital. It also provides a transition point to the travelers heading towards the northern areas of Swat and Gilgit. The plateau setting of Rawalpindi alongside Islamabad has revealed the evidence of a pre-historic culture flourishing in the region – a Buddhist town once existed on the site.
